A fundraiser held every year by PAA). To give an idea of what it is, it is like a silent auction in which auctionees volunteer themselves to be bidded on by friends or others to help raise funds for the club. The highest bidder of each auctionee “wins” a “date” with the person they bidded on. But don’t worry! You will not be going on a one-on-one date. Although, you can go on one after hahaha (: It is more of a group hang out at El Rodondo Park where everyone eats, plays games, enjoying each other’s company, and getting to know your date better (:

Take it from a person who has experienced being auctioned off in this event the past two year. It really is a lot of fun (:

If you have any questions, interested in being an auctionee, or be a part of the OSD committee, email us at paa.ucm.financial@gmail.com (:

For those who do not know what Arnis is, Arnis, or Eskrima, is the umbrella term for the traditional martial arts of the Philippines, which emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives and other bladed weapons, and various improvised weapons. It also includes hand-to-hand combat and weapon disarming techniques.

You will learn more about the history of Arnis if you are interested in joining.

Hope you guy decide to join :D

From our Directors of Pilipino Cultural Night,

Hey! Hey! Hey!

I hope you all had a great first week of school and got all the classes you wanted this semester. There will be auditions for the PCN script this weekend January 22 and January 23 in KL 474 from 1pm- 4pm. Though I know many of you are excited to see who’s going to be who this year, I prefer only those that are interested in acting for PCN to come to the auditions only. There will be auditions the following week also and, if needed, after the first general meeting.

For those that are interested in joining choir, cultural, or modern, there will be more information about that coming soon. For those that don’t want to do either but wish to participate and help for this big event, there will be information also about back stage crew and house crew.

Hope to see everyone soon and keep warm :)

HELLO EVERYONE!!!

Welcome back to another semester! Hope all of you had a wonderful break and what not. So to start of the spring semester, and the new year, here is the first newsletter of the semester. Some small updates and what not. But some added new features. (if you view the newsletter on your browser, and go to the PAA links at the bottom of the first page in the left column, click on the logos and they should take you to each of the corresponding websites :D )

But yes. Here is the newsletter: PAA Newsletter 14

Hope you guys had a good first week back and see you all soon :D

Hope you guys are excited to be back and ready to start off an exciting semester!

Aside from your schooling, this is a busy semester for PAA. This spring semester, we will be holding our 2 big events as well as other noted events that we throw. But who’s ready for PCN and The Gauntlet?! EXCITED?!

Anywho, if you haven’t checked your emails yet, our Directors of Pilipino Cultural Night have sent out the script for our 4th PCN over the break. If you are interested in being a part of PCN, whether it be through acting, singing, dancing (modern and/or cultural) or helping out with the production (backstage, tech, house, etc.), PLEASE do so. Even if you are hesitant about trying out for the play or being a part of CMCD, it’s good to let Directors of PCN and our coordinators know that you show some interest in being a part of PCN.

So if you are interested in being a part of the play, please look over the script. Krysta and Fatima will email out when audition dates are. If you are interested in being a part of either Choir, Modern or Cultural, please speak to any of the coordinators or attend their practices (which will be announced soon and posted on the Practices page)

But that’s what we have so far now.

Hope you guys had a wonderful break!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

HOPE YOU GUYS ARE READY FOR AN EXCITING SEMESTER!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!!! Hope you guys have a good break! And have a Happy New Years!!! 2012

Hey everyone,

Hope all of your studies are going well. I know the stress is really coming along, especially to those who are sick or getting sick. Just remember to stay well rested, drink lots of fluids, and most importantly EAT!!! lol. But any who, as Finals approach, for some they have already, just remember to manage your time accordingly.

Although we all might not see each other before we leave for Winter Break, I just want to say that it has been a FANTASTIC semester with you guys. From orientation all the way to Barrio Fiesta. Meeting the new freshmen class, creating new bonds, and just expanding the PAAmily. All of you have a place in the UCM PAA PAAmily.

Any who, just wanted to wish all of you guys good luck on your Finals and what ever else you have to finish for classes, get to your destination safely, and have a WONDERFUL Winter Break. Gets lots of sleep, eat homemade food, hangout with old friends, spend time with family, SHOP, and just ENJOY.

And we will see everyone back in January for a new semester full of exciting events, like PCN!!!

- Your Chief of Staff – Culi

Hello everyone,

Hope your papers, projects, midterms, and finals are coming along. In light of the hectic week of studying and other academic things, I’ve decided not to publish a newsletter this week because I have all my finals this week. But any who, I just want to wish everyone good luck on your finals. Study hard and everything will pay off in the end. And hey, only 2 weeks until Winter Break, 20 days until Christmas, and 26 day left in the year until we ring in 2012.

But yes. Good luck and hope everyone has a fantastic Winter Break!

- Your Chief of Staff -

Alex ‘Culi’ Culannay

Thank you to Everyone who came for Christmas Bliss. We had a lot of PAAers that came out last night to have a good time and celebrate the holidays with each other before we head off into finals. Lots of food, fun, karaoke, and a huge white elephant. We had about 59 white elephants this year. A lot of stealing, a lot of trading, and some surprising gift I may say. But it was a fun Bliss this year. Now study hard on your finals, show them who’s the boss, and have a great Winter Break!

*And a SPECIAL thanks to Lauren Dalupan and her housemates for letting us use their house for Christmas Bliss :D

Mabuhay!

Here is PAA Newsletter 13

Reminder that PAA Christmas Bliss is Saturday. Information about the event is on the newsletter as well as on the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/273935189314387/
